Varanasi as an educational destination

The city of Varanasi popularly known as Benares or Banaras or Kashi, is located on the left (west) bank of the River Ganga (Ganges) in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Varanasi is considered as a holy city in Hinduism because more than 1, 000, 000 pilgrims visit the city each year.

Apart from this, the city is well known for its education system.  The city is a site of three public universities. Banaras Hindu University that includes the Institute of Technology and the Institute of Medical sciences is among the 3 largest residential universities in the globe having more than 128 teaching departments.
Besides this, there are other two universities in the city as well that is Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth and Sampurnanand Sanskrit University.
