The Scope of Education in Gulmarg

Gulmarg, a small town and a popular hill station located at a distance of 52 kilometres from Srinagar does not have much to offer when it comes to providing regular education to children and school pass outs.

School Education in Gulmarg

It’s only in the year 1970, that the state board established their own Universities and Education Board. School education in Gulmarg is divided into primary, secondary and higher secondary. The normal pattern of school education (10+2) is followed and all schools are affiliated to JKBOSE (Jammu & Kashmir State Board of Secondary Education). Board exams, according to the State board, are conducted for class VIII, X and XII.

Higher Education in Gulmarg

The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering was setup on the year 1969 at Gulmarg by the Tourism Department. The institute conducts training for skiers and mountaineers from all over the world. 

The other notable college in Gulmarg is HAWS or the High Altitude Warfare School. This is a premier training school that imparts special winter warfare and mountain warfare training to men and women in The Indian Army.
