Education system of Trivandrum

Trivandrum also known as Thiruvanathapuram, is the capital of the Indian state Kerala. Trivandrum is located on the west coast of India, near the extreme south of the mainland.
The city was referred as ‘evergreen city of India’ by Mahatma Gandhi, is characterized by its undulating terrain of the low coastal hills and the busy commercial alleys.

With around 745, 000 inhabitants, Trivandrum is the largest as well as most populous city in Kerala. Besides being the political nerve centre of Kerala, the city is also considered as a major educational hub and is a home to various educational institutions, which includes the University of Kerala as well.

Apart from this, the city has many science and technology institutions, like the VSSC, IIST and IISER to name a few.
Trivandrum being a major academic hub includes many professional graduate colleges as well as post graduate colleges. Other than this, the city also has:

• Two law colleges and
• Various other institutes

The city is blessed with Trivandrum Medical College, which is one of the finest in the country. The college has been upgraded to the status of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Besides colleges, the schools in the city are also famous for imparting high class education to its students. The city has various Aided, unaided as well as government schools.

The government schools in the city are run directly by the state government and follow the syllabus that is prescribed by the state government. The aided schools follow the state syllabus, whereas the government schools and the private schools follow either CBSE or ICSE syllabus.
