The education system of Agra
Agra is a city on the banks of the Yamuna River in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city being located on the Indo- Gangetic plain has a continental climate of long hot summers from the month of April to September, Monsoons from July to September and the winters normally from November to February.
Besides this, the city is well- known because of the The Taj Mahal. As far as the education system in Agra is concerned, the city has always been a centre of learning and education.
The city grew as a centre of Islamic education during the advent of Mughal Era. After a few decades, the city witnessed great literary figures. Abul Fazl, Mir Taqi ‘Mir’ and Mirza Asadullah Beg ‘Ghalib’ were among a few icons produced by the city.

The Agra University was established in the year 1927 and is catered to the colleges spread across the united provinces, the central provinces, the Rajputana. Currently there are around 142 colleges affiliated to the Agra University.
The name of the Agra University was later changed to Dr. BhimRao Ambedkar University by the chief minister of the state.

Schools in the city

During the British rule, various English medium schools to the city were also introduced, which were known as convent schools. Most convent schools have made English as their language of instruction.
Besides this, the government schools of the city focus more on Hindi language.
