The education system in the city of Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer, nicknamed as the ‘golden city’ is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The town stands on the ridge of yellowish sandstone, which is crowned by a fort that contains the palace and several elaborate Jain temples.

Most houses and temples of the city are sculptured finely and the city of Jaisalmer lies in the heart of ‘Thar Desert’. The city has a population of around 78, 000 and it is the administrative headquarters of the Jaisalmer district.

As far as the education of the city is concerned, the government of Jaisalmer has set up many primary schools, government schools, privately owned institutes as well as government colleges.

Education is playing a major role in uplifting the standard of the city. With more and more graduate colleges growing in number, the government is taking strict steps in order to uplift the education scenario of the city.

The literacy rate of the city has increased manifold in the recent years. Apart from the city, the education programs are also conducted in the rural regions of the city.
