Chhattisgarh as an educational destination

The state of Chhattisgarh came into existence on 1st November 2000. Though the education development in the state isn’t very incredible, but the state is known to spread the knowledge of thought as well as freedom among its people.

The government of the state has made the arrangement for providing free and compulsory education to the students till the age of 14 years. Besides this, the government is also laying stress on the education of the unprivileged sections of the society such as Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes and Women in order to raise their literacy standards.

School education in the state

Apart from this, children in Chhattisgarh starts going to school as soon as they turn 5 years of age. In short if a child is 5 years old, he/ she become eligible to get admission in first standard.
Besides this, children also attend preparatory school when they turn 3 years. The state follows a very uniform scheme of school education pattern i.e. the 10 + 2 pattern.

Most of the schools in the state are either affiliated with the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) or Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) or Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE).

The state has both government as well as private managed schools. Most private schools are found in towns as well as city centers where the language of instruction is mainly English. Apart from this, the schools that are run by state have made Hindi as their language of instruction.

Higher studies in the state

After completing their +2 i.e. the 12th standard, students prepare to go for higher study. The students continue their studies with the subjects they chose in 12th standard.
From here, a student is asked to make his/ her choice in a particular stream and admit themselves in either engineering colleges, medical, or management colleges.
