Allahabad education system

Allahabad, also known as Prayag, is a city i.e. located in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Allahabad is one of four sites of the Kumbh Mela.

There are many government offices present in the city like The Allahabad high court, Principal accountant general office (AG office), UP Public service commission office, headquarters of north central railway, the regional office of the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) and the UP Board of high school and intermediate education.

The city is also known to be associated with 7 out of 14 Prime Ministers of India. And above all, the education system of the city is also excellent. The colleges and the schools of the city, not only attracts students from U.P, but from all over the country.
The city has one central university; three deemed universities, research as well as technical institutions and colleges that are known for imparting higher education in various disciplines.

The Allahabad University is the fourth oldest university of the nation and is granted with the status of a Central university.
There are many colleges that are affiliated to the Allahabad University and offers quality education in various streams like science, medical, humanities or commerce.

The city has a few reputed engineering colleges, I.T colleges, branches of medical colleges and many other institutes.
Students from all over the country can come to the city and pursue the courses of their respective fields without worrying about accommodation. This is because most of the colleges have hostel facilities for both boys and girls, which makes it easier for the out- stationed candidates to accommodate.

Most of these schools are affiliated either with the Indian Certificate of Secondary education (ICSE), Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) or the UP Board of high school and intermediate education.

English is the medium of instruction in most   private schools, whereas government schools offer both Hindi as well as English medium education.
Besides this, in order to cater the needs of vocational, technical as well as professional education in the rural areas of the city and the nearby districts, the government has started a university in Allahabad, known as Dubawal village of Allahabad.

At present, the university offers academic programs at both graduate as well as post graduate levels in many disciplines such as Arts, commerce, Science, Law Management, Master of social works, computer applications, Journalism etc.
